I Can by Nas

I Can by Nas is my track for quiet resolve: nothing comes easy, it takes practice, and if you want to be the noun you have to do the verb.

The mood running through today's posts is quiet resolve. No big speeches, just knowing what you’re going to do and getting on with it. The track that goes with it for me is I Can by Nas.

It’s from Nas’s 2002 album God’s Son, built on that Für Elise piano line, with a choir of kids singing the hook. He’s telling young people they can be anything they want. And then he tells them the catch:

If I work hard at it, I’ll be where I wanna be
But nothing comes easy, it takes much practice

Nas, I Can (2002)

And that sums it up, really. You’ve got to put the work in to get the result.

If you want to be the noun, you have to do the verb.

That’s the thread running through nothing changes until you do and the little things. Be the person first, then do the small stuff, day after day, even when nobody’s watching.

Press play and give it a proper listen.
