The mood running through today's posts is patient generosity. Calm enough to pick up the better handle, open enough to offer help. The track that goes with it for me is Moment of Truth by Gang Starr.
It’s the title track from Gang Starr’s 1998 album Moment of Truth, with Guru on the mic and DJ Premier on the beats. There’s one couplet in it that says it all for me:
Actions have reactions, don’t be quick to judge
Gang Starr, Moment of Truth (1998)
You may not know the hardships people don’t speak of
It’s a reminder that we’ve all got to face our own truth, and that we never really know what’s going on for other people.
Even when they’ve been open with us, it doesn’t mean we know the whole story, or everything they’re thinking.
That’s the thread running through picking up the right handle and selling as serving. Be slow to judge, and be generous with your help, because the other person is probably carrying something you can’t see.
Press play and give it a proper listen.
