Another first on my year without beer, yesterday was thanksgiving without beer.
I am currently in Chicago for work and was lucky enough to be invited to share thanksgiving with some colleagues. This was actually my first thanksgiving so it was kind of easy to stay alcohol free even if some of those around me were busy downing shots and drinking lots of good beer and red wine.
It turned out to be an eventful day as some nice American lady decided to turn left from the right hand lane and drove straight into my hire car. A visit to a police station to file a report and then back to the airport to change the car and a few hours later my day was back on track and most importantly nobody was hurt.
My first thanksgiving turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable day, despite including a road traffic accident!
Year Without Beer
The Olympics may be over, but my Year Without Beer isn’t! I am spending all 366 days of this leap year alcohol free in an attempt to raise money for 2 charities that are both very close to my heart.
As part of my running challenge I have completed a quarter marathon, a 10 mile road race (Great South Run) and am signed up to do an 8 mile off road challenge (The Grim Original).
In 2012 I was raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cancer Research UK.
