When I decided to start running and fulfil one of my life dreams, to follow in my Dad’s footsteps and complete a long distance race my target was simple. To train so that I could complete the ten miles of the Great South Run. I had no time in mind, and to be honest wasn’t even sure my body was capable of running ten miles.
As time has passed during the 6 weeks I’ve been training, I’ve found the running getting easier and hence my distance increasing. This has got me thinking about how quickly could I do ten miles? I’ve started to think that if I could do it in under 2 hours I’d be happy, but today I surpassed my own targets – ten miles in 1 hour 41 mins! To say I am happy is an understatement. Now to keep training so I can get a personal best on the big day. Oh and I need to make sure I cover 500 miles before the end of the year
Year Without Beer
Never mind the Olympics, 2012 is my Year Without Beer! I am spending all 366 days of this leap year alcohol free in an attempt to raise money for 2 charities that are both very close to my heart.
As part of my running challenge I am signed up to run a quarter marathon, 10 mile road race (Great South Run) and 8 mile off road challenge (The Grim Original).
In 2012 I was raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cancer Research UK.
