OMG! How happy am I? Today I had an email to say my Great South Run race pack is on it’s way so I decided to go for a long run after work and smashed both my 10 mile and half marathon personal bests! This is only the second time I’ve run a half marathon, but I took 25 minutes off of my previous time. This is less than a week after beating my PB in the Facebook FiveK too.
I’ve also now completed over 75% of my 500 mile challenge!
Why am I running?
Although in the past I’ve always found running boring, when I was a kid I watched my Dad complete the Southampton half marathon and ever since then I have always had a desire to follow in his footsteps. A long distance run or marathon has been on my bucket list since before I even heard the term bucket list, and now it is jumped up that list to become a short term challenge. Since starting my training I’ve also started to really enjoy running too, finding it a perfect way to relax.
Year Without Beer
The Olympics may be over, but my Year Without Beer isn’t! I am spending all 366 days of this leap year alcohol free in an attempt to raise money for 2 charities that are both very close to my heart.
As part of my running challenge I have completed a quarter marathon and am signed up for a 10 mile road race (Great South Run) and 8 mile off road challenge (The Grim Original).
In 2012 I was raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cancer Research UK.
