Unbeetable

A juice recipe pairing beetroot, watercress and pears, bringing together beetroot's detox properties, watercress's high vitamin C and pear's fibre into one simple, nutritious drink.

Beetroot has recently been hailed as the Athlete’s secret weapon, but it has long been used for medicinal purposes. Beets help to stimulate the liver’s detoxification process and (as many juicers will already know) they have a favourable effect on bowel function too! From the pharaohs in Egypt and the ancient Greeks, to the Romans and Anglo-Saxons, eminent philosophers and doctors throughout history have revered the health boosting properties of watercress. It contains more vitamin C than oranges, and in 2012 a study of women reported increased energy levels and significant improvements to skin!

“Where do you get your fibre?”

Pears are an excellent source of water-soluble fibres, including pectin. Pears are actually higher in pectin than apples and can help to lower cholesterol levels and tone the intestines!
