Regular readers may remember that I posted a couple of times last year about taking part in the “Facebook FiveK” and achieving my personal best for the 5k distance. Well, the Facebook FiveK is a monthly event that I have made a regular part of my running schedule.
The idea is simple: do a 5K run (or run to the best of your ability, you can walk most of it if you have to) on the event date (currently the first Saturday of each month) and post your time on the event page. This is a virtual race that no matter where in the world you are, you can take part. With this in mind, I ran this morning’s race not from my home location in the UK, but in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Oh, and I managed to get another PB with a time of 20 minutes and 39 seconds!

2013 Miles in 2013
I am doing my 2013 miles in 2013 challenge in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust as I have been surprised since I started fundraising for the CF Trust just how many people are unaware of this disease and so I hope my efforts will not just raise money, but also awareness of the UK’s most most common life-threatening inherited disease.
2013 Miles in 2013 – The rules
The rules for my 2013 miles in 2013 challenge are quite simple:
- All miles must be completely self powered (no motors, sails, etc)
- I must be able to evidence all miles, either via GPS or with a picture of any static gym equipment
To complete my 2013 miles I will be running, cycling, rowing and who knows, I might even try a few other self powered methods along the way.
