Gratitude
"In the midst of the darkness, grab a flashlight" (Gabrielle Bernstein, The Universe Has Your Back)
When it comes to anxiety and depression, I believe the answer is gratitude. It's like someone takes a torch and shines a light on the good things, and you're the one holding the torch. Gratitude brings the light.
In fact, the greatest gift you can give yourself is gratitude.
So what are the good things in your life right now? What are the things you can be grateful for today? Two things, three things, five things, ten things. If you can't think of three, make a list of ten. And they don't have to be big things. It can be little things like running water, or a roof over your head, or being warm. It can be something like family. It could even be as simple as: I'm still breathing.
It doesn't have to be the thing you want more than anything in the world. That will come. One of the ways to get it is to start appreciating what you've already got. There's always something, always, always something to be grateful for.
So I encourage you: make your list. Make a list of at least three things you're grateful for today.
The book: The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein.
Write down at least three things you're grateful for today.
