What changes
A shortlist with one job: making sure the next book you read is worth your time.
01
Your next read is always lined up
Finish a book and the next one's already waiting. No more guessing in a bookshop or scrolling through reviews.
02
You start with what you're facing
Standing out, selling, focus, habits, running further than you thought you could, or getting back on your feet. Each has its own short stack.
03
You know in seconds if it's for you
Every book comes with one line from it, or its key idea, and what it meant to me. You can tell straight away if it's the one for right now.
04
You get the music books too
15 books from the people behind the records, picked by a DJ who's been playing them since 1987.
What's inside

“When you focus on one thing, you do it well. When you focus on everything, you fail.”
My line on The ONE Thing by Gary Keller, number 11 in the guide.
From the guide
A few from the list
They're in no particular order. Here are three, with a line on each in my words.
No. 06
Made to Stick
Chip Heath and Dan Heath
These two brothers have written some of my favourite books ever. They make big ideas really, really simple.
No. 19
Beastie Boys Book
Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz
Anyone who thinks they're just “Fight for Your Right” needs to think again. In my world, they're geniuses.
No. 35
Born to Run
Christopher McDougall
This is one of the books I blame for becoming an ultra runner. I used to think I couldn't run at all.
Where the list comes from
One page a day
For years after I left formal education, I didn't read at all. So I changed my rule: at least one page a day. That's what got me reading again.
Now I read about a book a week, and I've kept a reading record since 2016. These are the 50 that stuck.
My reading rule
“At least one page a day. That's it.”
If you keep meaning to read more, try it. The guide will pick the book.
